The Junior Grade at Parnell Cricket Club is designed for children in New Zealand School Years 0 to 8, up to Under 13 years old.
This grade focuses on introducing the fundamentals of cricket in a fun, engaging, and safe environment. Emphasizing skill development, sportsmanship, and team play, the junior grade provides an excellent foundation for young enthusiasts to learn and grow in the sport.
Each Parnell Junior Club team is allocated regular pro-coach led sessions in addition to their own team coach led session. With a range of age-specific teams and coaching sessions, the club ensures that each child receives the right level of training and competition, making their early cricketing experience both enjoyable and rewarding.
Players are allocated to club teams based on their school year: Year 0-4, then Under 10 Years through to Under 13. Beyond weekend club cricket, players have the opportunity to join club representative teams to compete in the Hawkes Bay Summer Camps, JT Sparling Series and U13 Club Summer Series.
Children in Year 1 participate in the Club's junior cricket programme, which aims to teach fundamental cricket at this level.
Teams (8-a-side) play in the Eastern Districts Cricket Association (EDCA), which involves three other local Clubs-Grafton United CC, Auckland University CC and Ellerslie CC.
