The Post-Christmas Season commences Friday 7 February and concludes Saturday 29 March 2025.

ABOUT

Our Year 2, 3 and 4 teams are 8-a-side and play in the Eastern Districts Cricket Association (EDCA) competition, which involves three other local Clubs-Grafton United CC, Auckland University CC with Ellerslie CC joining for the first time this season.

Pre-Christmas, all games will be played at Shore Road Reserve on Fridays from 5.00pm. However post-Christmas, some games will be played at the opposition's home ground or on Saturday mornings, depending on the draw.

Limited-over games start at 5.00 pm on Fridays and 8.30 am on Saturdays and are approximately 1.5 to 2 hours in duration. Rules are formatted so that all children get the opportunity to participate equally throughout the game. All three grades play with a Junior size Incrediball (soft ball).

TEAM PRACTICE TIMES

Weekly team practices will generally be held on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evenings from 4.00-5.00 pm or 5.00-6.00 pm, at Shore Road Reserve or Thomas Bloodworth Park. Actual practice day and time will be confirmed by your team coach.

In addition, our Pro-Coaches lead a series of weekly technical skills sessions for our Year’s 3 & 4 players. These sessions are held at the Shore Road outdoor nets.

TEAM ALLOCATIONS

The Club Policy is that all players should play in their correct grade. However, it does allow children to play up (or down) a grade depending on friends and abilities, but once a child is in School Year 4 (as at the start of a cricket season) they MUST play in the corresponding Year 4 cricket grade. This will mean that some children may have to repeat Year 4 if they were playing up a grade the season before.

All our teams are selected to provide a mix of abilities and schools as much as possible. Our grade coordinators do their utmost to accommodate team friend requests within these guidelines, usually with highly successful outcomes. However, we can offer no guarantees and appreciate your understanding that not all requests can be met.

PLAYER EQUIPMENT

All cricket equipment is provided in a team gear bag so there is no need to invest in cricket gear until you are sure of your child's commitment.
